I am very clear that we can learn so much from nature, but it never ceases to amaze me how much teaching actually happens. Until we hit a pivotal point in our life. In my neighborhood there have been siting’s of a Bold Head Eagle on several occasions. So, I start seeking out information of this exotic species. I found out that the Eagle only feast on live prey. The swooping into rivers, streams, lakes, oceans to retrieve live fish. Unlike, other birds of the air that will eat from refuse, and dead carcass like vultures. A quote from the Bible: Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint”. When I think of the Large bird called the Eagle, I think of strength which brings me to an oldie but goodie a song by Steve Miller Band “Fly Like an Eagle” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnlTrq6wLf0 (1976) . The Lyrics to this song are something to really listen too, but that is not enough hear the lyrics see how? The lyrics continues to transcend across time and space. I guess I always had an affinity to that large bird in the sky. I can recall sitting in front of my blank canvass without one idea for a subject matter, and slowly I went into my right brain and a few hours later after brushing broad strokes of brilliant colors there she was a visual language of a beautiful woman of color, whom appeared like a Trobrianders Of Papua New Guineas culture and on her forearms was the large bird Eagle she represent so much strength in this painting among a landscape of trees, and hills her style of dress kissed every inch of her body. Little did I know that this colorful painting seeped from out of my soul would only stay with me for an allotted time, and her eyes were so focused at times I can still see her eyes in my dreams. Unfortunately, In 2005 with the Gulf Coast region devastations; I loss several of my paintings ones that I created in my own studio away from home. “…Fly like an eagle let my spirit carry me…”. I honor and respect the beauty, brains, and fortitude that the Eagle in flight possess. Meanwhile, I will keep checking out the neighborhood for Eagles magical siting’s.
